Someone sent me a gift
Opening a gift is free, forever, with no account to make. Download The Daily Rose from the App Store, tap “I received a gift”, and enter the code you were sent. If you tap the link in their message instead, the gift opens by itself.
Where do I find my code?
It's in the message from the person who sent your gift. It looks like ABCD-EFGH. Capitals, spaces and the dash don't matter. If you can't find the message, ask them to share it again.
It says “That doesn't look like a gift code”
The code has eight letters and numbers, like ABCD-EFGH. Try copying the whole message from the person who sent your gift and pasting it in, or tap the link in their message.
It says “We couldn't find a gift with that code”
Check the code letter by letter. If the gift was only just sent, wait a minute and try again, as it can take a moment to arrive.
It asks me to sign in to iCloud
Gifts travel through Apple's iCloud, so your iPhone needs to be signed in. Open Settings, tap your name at the top (or “Sign in to your iPhone”), sign in with your Apple Account, then try again. You don't need to pay for iCloud storage.
It found the gift but couldn't unlock it
Ask the person who sent it to send the code again, in case a letter was lost along the way. If a fresh code still won't open, email us.
It says it couldn't reach my gift
Check you're connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, then try again.
Reminders and hearts
I'm not getting the daily reminder
In the app, open the gift's settings and turn the daily reminder on. If the app says notifications are turned off, open your iPhone's Settings, tap Notifications, then The Daily Rose, and turn on Allow Notifications. The reminder never shows the message itself.
What does the heart do?
When you tap the heart on a gift, the person who sent it gets a notification saying someone tapped the heart on their gift. It doesn't include your name or any message.
What happens when every photo has been seen?
The photos start again from the beginning. Birthdays, anniversaries and On This Day photos still land on their dates. If you miss a day, the gift catches up to today's photo and message when you next open it.
How do I remove a gift from my phone?
Open the gift's settings and tap “Remove this gift from this phone”. The photos are removed from your phone, and you can open the gift again later with its code.
I made a gift for someone
How does the other person get it?
When your gift is ready, the app gives you a short code and a message to send by text or any messaging app. They download the free app and enter the code, or tap the link in your message.
Can I add more photos after sending?
The gift holds the photos you chose when you sent it. Photos you add or remove on your phone afterwards only change your preview, not their gift.
I want to make a new gift
On your gift's screen, tap “Start a new gift”. The gift you already sent keeps working and nothing changes for the person who has it. What goes is your copy on this phone: the photos, the preview, the gift code and the heart count. Save the code somewhere first if you might need to send it again.
Do I need iCloud to send a gift?
Yes. Your iPhone needs to be signed in to iCloud so the gift can be delivered. Everything personal is encrypted on your phone first, so Apple can't see it.
Paying and cancelling
A subscription lets you create and send gifts, with a free month to start. Opening a gift someone sent you is always free. Apple handles all payments, so we never see your card details.
How do I cancel?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then The Daily Rose, and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least a day before it renews. Gifts you have already sent keep working.
I have a new phone and the app wants me to subscribe again
Make your gift as usual. When the subscription screen appears, tap Restore instead of choosing a plan. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.
Your photos stay private
Photos, names and messages are end to end encrypted on your phone before they are uploaded, so nobody at The Daily Rose can see them. Only someone with the gift code can open a gift. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking in the app. The full details are in our privacy policy.
Can a gift I sent be deleted?
Yes. Email us and we'll remove it from iCloud. Once it's removed, it can't be opened again, even with the code.
